Eureka is in Humboldt County in California. It is the chief port between San Francisco Bay and the Columbia River. The renovated 19th century Old Town consists of specialty shops, restaurants, art galleries and studios.

Hundreds of pieces of folk art crafted from wood by Italian immigrant Romano Gabriel, a carpenter and gardener by trade, can be viewed in the Romano Gabriel Garden.

Humboldt Bay is an important fishing port and fishing fleets dock just across the Samoa Bridge at Woodley Island Marina, where a copper clad redwood statue of a fisherman commemorates fisherman lost at sea. Humboldt Bay Maritime Museum, adjacent to the Samoa Cookhouse, displays marine artifacts and early photographs of the area.

Visit the Clarke Historical Museum, the Fort Humboldt State Historic Park, and the Sequoia Park and Zoo. Also, enjoy the 75 minute narrated history cruise around Humboldt Bay.
